Medicinal Folk Uses: Traditionally used to treat stomach ulcers, mouth ulcers heavy menstrual periods, cough, chest pain. It is also used as a gargled for gum disease and sore throat. Furthermore, comfrey has been used to treat skin conditions, wounds and reduce inflammation from sprains and broken bones. Comfrey is carries anti-properties-allantoin and rosmarinic acid. Allantoin promotes the growth of new skin cells, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Rosmarinic acid acts as a painkiller and reduces inflammation.
To Prepare as a Tea Steep 2–3 teaspoons (10–15 grams) of the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes. Tea infusion can be used as a mouthwash or applied topically to achy joints and sore muscles.
