Common Names: Succory, Wild Chicory, Wild Succory, Coffeeweed
Folk Name: “Wild Succory”
Magical Folk Uses: Curse removal, obstacle removal, adds potency to spell work, strengthens divination skills, brings good luck, invisibility, favors strengthens curses. May be of benefit if you are trying to save money because it promotes frugality.
Medicinal Folk Uses: Mild laxative effect, increases bile from the gallbladder, and decreases swelling, blood sugar control. Chicory Root has a similar taste to coffee and it can be made into tea to help with caffeine addiction without the withdrawal symptoms
Whole chicory root can be boiled and eaten as a vegetable, whereas ground chicory is often brewed with water to make a coffee-like drink.
Mixing Suggestions: Can be brewed exactly as you would brew coffee. You can use a teapot, manual dripper, a filter coffee maker, a French Press or an Espresso Machine. Organic Roasted Chicory Root granules are also brewed the same as loose leaf tea. Can also be added to smoothies and shakes.
