Medicinal Folk Uses: It is believed that amla rejuvenates all of the body’s tissues and the vital life force, and agni or “digestive fire.” Used as a general tonic to support healthy brain function in the elderly, for constipation, urinary problems and occasional anxiety, and they were used topically and internally to support the integrity of the mucosal membranes of the skin, gums, scalp and gastrointestinal tract.
Modern studies support Amla berry incredibly potent antioxidant properties; it boost skin/hair health, and also overall immunity of the body. Known to lower cholesterol levels, ease heartburn, diarrhea, and osteoarthritis. Amla contains phytochemicals and antioxidants that help fight free radicals, protect longevity, detoxify the body, and preserve skin health.
Tea is made by steeping 1/2-1 teaspoon (5–10 grams) of the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes. May also be added shakes & smoothies.
