Boneset is a well-known substitute for Abre Camino, which translates to 'Road Opener.' Abre Camino, known as Florida Thoroughwort in English, is native to South Florida and the Caribbean and belongs to the Eupatorium species. Abre Camino (Eupatorium Villosum).
Magical Folk Uses: Protection, wards off evil, exorcism, cord cutting, spiritual cleansing, jinx removing, clears obstacles.
Medicinal Folk Uses: Traditionally used by indigenous people of the Americas as a natural medicine to reduce fevers; induce sweat; cure colds, flu, cough, respiratory irritation and body aches. Boneset stimulates the immune system and it is heavily antibacterial and antiviral. Boneset herb is also anti-inflammatory and a mild laxative.
Contemporary studies show that Boneset helps treat viral and bacterial infections by stimulating white blood cells to destroy disease-causing micro-organisms more effectively. Tea is made by steeping 1/2-1 teaspoon (5–10 grams) of the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes. It is also important to note that if you use too much Boneset then you will quickly feel mild nausea.
