Medicinal Folk Uses: A tea or tincture made from Cinquefoil has been used historically to treat ailments such as diarrhea, digestive issues, enteritis, bleeding gums, toothaches, canker sores, dysentery, epilepsy, and fever. Externally, a decoction of crushed leaves and stems has been used as a topical solution to help with wound healing and rheumatism. It can also be used as an expectorant to clear the respiratory tract, and is known to be beneficial for coughs, colds, and sore throats. Additionally, Cinquefoil may be effective in regulating menstrual cycles and relieving menstrual cramps, due to its purported effect on the hormonal system.

Tea is made by steeping 2–3 teaspoons (10–15 grams) in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes.
