Medicinal Folk Uses: Traditionally used to treat skin wounds; as mouth rinse to treat inflammation of the mouth and throat. Goldenrod has also been used to treat tuberculosis, diabetes, enlargement of the liver, gout, hemorrhoids, internal bleeding, asthma, and arthritis. It is also used to reduce pain and swelling (inflammation), as a diuretic to increase urine flow, and to stop muscle spasms.
Tea is made by steeping 2–3 teaspoons (10–15 grams) of the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes.
