Medicinal Folk Uses: Traditionally used to cure or aid the symptoms of almost every possible malady. As dermatological aid, brewed roots and leaves would be applied to heal bruises, diabetic sores, cuts, open sores and acne. The Iroquois harnessed selfheal for a use as an antidiarrheal, emetic, antiemetic, blood purifier, cold remedy, cough medicine, gastrointestinal aid, gynecological aid, hemorrhoid remedy, orthopedic aid, pulmonary aid, respiratory aid, tuberculosis remedy, sedative, and venereal aid. Heal All Herb is used for inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), diarrhea, colic, and stomach upset and irritation (gastroenteritis). It is also used for mouth and throat ulcers, sore throat, and internal bleeding.
Modern studies support show it may help fight inflammation, protect against cancer, prevent diabetes complications, and treat herpes
Tea is made by steeping 2–3 teaspoons (10–15 grams) of the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes.
