Botanical Name: Althaea officinalis

Common Names: Althea root, Sweet Weed, Mallards, Guimauve, Mortification Plant, Schloss tea, Wymote

Folk Name:  Mortification Root 

Magical Folk Uses: Stimulates psychic powers; aids in spirit communication; spiritual healing; spiritual protection;  associated with death and rebirth; sex magic; fertility rituals.

Medicinal Folk Uses: Used to reduce swelling and pain from conditions like arthritis. It’s also said to be a mucilage, meaning it helps to soothe the mucous membranes of the digestive and respiratory systems. Other purported benefits include aiding digestion, improving skin health, and fighting off infection. It’s also believed to possess antioxidant and anti-aging properties.

Tea is made by steeping 2–3 teaspoons (10–15 grams) in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water for ten to fifteen minutes.

I'm glad it's organic, I've got sensitive skin and so I like to pour a little in my bath water. They also sent a lovely little oil sample to match.
