Medicinal Folk Uses: Traditionally used to treat skin wounds. It has astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to reduce bleeding, swelling, and inflammation. The plant was often used to make a poultice or salve for topical application to wounds. It has long been known that yarrow can relieve menstrual cramps and regulate menstrual cycles. Its antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties help to relax the uterus and reduce cramping. Yarrow has also been used to treat respiratory issues, such as colds, flu, and bronchitis. Its antimicrobial and expectorant properties help to relieve congestion, and fight off infection. It's also a natural fever reducer. The plant's diaphoretic properties promote sweating, which can help to reduce fever.
